Motor Trend Magazine has judged the Nissan GT-R as its 2009 car of the year. Earlier also Nissan GT-R was named as car of the year by the AUTOMOBILE Magazine which is America's leading automotive lifestyle publication.

Both the magazine have mentioned the world class level of performance at a much more affordable price as the reasons which makes Nissan GT-R as a clear winner for the car of the year award.

Angus MacKenzie, editor-in-chief of Motor Trend, said that none of the other 2009 competitors ``crushed'' the magazine's criteria like the Nissan GT-R did.

AUTOMOBILE Magazine editors cited the car's 'neck-snapping acceleration,' 'super-accurate steering' and 'incredible value' by supercar standards.

The 2009 GT-R is the sixth generation of Nissan's flagship sports car and the first to come from a ``clean slate'' design, with the previous versions based on Japanese-market models.

2009 Nissan GT-R is a multi-dimensional performance machine that lives up to the concept of “the ultimate supercar that can be driven by anyone, anytime, anywhere”

It also is the first production car to include independent trans-axle four-wheel drive, which uses a rear-mounted transaxle and two independent propeller shafts to allow each axle to control tire grip without manipulation of the other.

The new Nissan GT-R is built on an exclusive, all-new Premium Midship platform. This new platform enables the use of a world’s first independent rear transaxle ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive system, which places the transmission, transfer case and final drive at the rear of the vehicle, optimizing weight distribution and maximizing handling capability.

GT-R’s four-passenger cabin features a sloping “aero blade canopy” roofline and curved C-pillar “sword edge,” as well as GT-R’s hallmark four-ring taillights, functional rear carbon fiber underbody diffuser, rear spoiler and large, integrated quad exhaust tips.

Nissan GT-R’s interior balances functionality with a sense of ease and comfort. It features sculpted performance bucket seats for an optimal driving position, a cockpit-style instrument panel with a large center-mounted tachometer and multi-function display – which includes mechanical and driving information, as well as an on-board driving recorder.

The 2009 Nissan GT-R is equipped with a 480-horsepower all-new VR38DETT 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine and GR6 six-speed twin-clutch transmission, both hand assembled by a single technician.

In all the 2009 Nissan GT-R is multi-dimensional performance machine which has rewritten the rule-book for high-performance vehicles. GT-R is a technologically advanced coupe which delivers a level of performance, handling, and efficiency that rivals the world's best-known supercars, at a fraction of the price.''
Yes surely a very well deserved the "2009 Car Of The Year"
