The new Porsche Panamera is now in the town with the release of official pictures of the car.

Porsche Panamera engines will be V6s and V8s, with the power ranging between 300 and 500bhp, and a hybrid is in development. There'll be a turbo, as well as the option of rear- or four-wheel drive.

Pontiac has launched G8 GXP sports sedan for the 2009 model year. Pontiac G8 GXP is expected to deliver more power and better handling than the base and GT models.

The Pontiac G8 GXP delivers a 0 to 60 mph time of about 4.7 seconds and this power comes from a 6.2-liter LS3 small-block V8 engine delivering 402 horsepower and 402 pound-feet of torque.

G8 GXP engine is one of the newest member of GM's small-block V-8 family. It features a revised, larger-bore cylinder block, high-flow, L92-style cylinder heads; larger-diameter pistons; unique camshaft and camshaft timing; revised valvetrain with offset intake rocker arms; high-flow intake manifold; and high-flow fuel injectors.

"More than just raw power, the GXP delivers the sophisticated yet exciting driving experience that enthusiasts expect in a car costing far more than the GXP," said Jim Bunnell, Buick-Pontiac-GMC general manager.

GM claims the Pontiac G8 GXP's handling was developed and validated on racetracks and highways around the world, including the famed Nürburgring racing circuit. The suspension employs a MacPherson strut design in the front and a four-link, coil-over-shock design in the rear.

The car has Brembo braking system which includes 14-inch (355 mm) vented front and 12.76-inch (324 mm) rear disc rotors, with quad-piston alloy calipers in front. The alloy calipers on the rear brakes have single-piston actuation.

The Pontiac G8 GXP's interior is driver-oriented having instruments with a sport appearance and the interiors consists of mix of satin and chrome trim and high-quality textured materials throughout. The instrument cluster glows with crisp, white light on the primary instruments. Pontiac's signature red lighting illuminates the rest of the instrument panel cluster.

Standard comfort and convenience amenities include: bolstered two-tone sport seats, a leather steering wheel, fog lamps, alloy pedals, a 230-watt Blaupunkt audio system, XM Satellite Radio, and OnStar.

Lotus has unveiled its highly secretive Project Eagle car, which is officially christened the Lotus Evora at the 2008 British International Motor Show. It is the most important Lotus since the Elise was unveiled 13 years ago and heralds the marque’s return to the GT market.

Lotus Evora is 2+2 mid-engined sports car weighs just 1,350 kg and is powered by a Toyota 3.5 liter V6 Dual VVT-i engine with a Lotus T6e ECU putting out 280 PS at 6,400rpm and 342Nm of torque at 4,700rpm. Evora 0 to 100km/h time is measured at under 5 seconds.

Lotus is targeting 2000 sales per annum for the Evora and will be priced between £45k to a little over £50k.

At the environmental front, CO2 emissions are measured at just under 225 g/km and the car achieves more than 30 mpg on a combined cycle. This is mated to a 6-speed manual, but the ratios are tuned for a more relaxing GT-like drive.

Braking system of the Evora is via AP Racing 4-pot calipers for both front (350mm disc) and rear (332mm disc), hiding behind large 18 inch wheels at the front and 19 inch wheels at the rear wrapped with Yokohama rubber in 225/40ZR18 and 255/35ZR19 sizes respectively.

Lotus Evora chassis is based on the Lotus Versatile Vehicle Architecture,and the car itself measures 3242mm long and 1223mm tall with a track of 1565mm at the front and 1557mm at the rear. The body has a drag coefficient of 0.33 cD.

The Evora’s composite roof is used as a stressed structural member to help the vehicle achieve a chassis stiffness of 26,000 Nm per degree. The suspension uses Bilstein dampers and Eibach springs with dual path top mounts.

All the switches in the car are edge-lit to replicate those found on top-end hi-fi systems and a central touch-screen will operate all radio and sat-nav controls.

The interior configuration apes the themes and lines of the exterior with a ‘floating’ centre console and a contrasting band that runs from the dash right around the cabin and across the rear seats.

The Recaro seats of Lotus Evora are a little larger than those in the Elise and there’s more shoulder room between the driver and front seat passenger, while the dash is formed from leather and aluminium .

The North American auto show was officially kicked off at the Los Angeles Auto Show, with the Japanese automaker Nissan introducing its highly-anticipated 370Z sports car.taking the first press conference slot.

The Nissan 370Z is designed as a replacement to the 350Z, the 370Z’s styling is evolutionary rather than revolutionary. 370Z has kept the same general shape as the previous model however the 370Z has received a headlight treatment similar to the design seen earlier on the 2009 Maxima.and now the headlamps will use LEDs.

The rear of the car is also a bit stubbier, with a sharper crease along the trailing edge of the hatch. The 370Z’s rear taillights also have a fishhook design similar to those seen on the Maxima’s headlights.

Nissan 370Z will have a 3.7-litre V6 engine With around 325bhp on tap – the car will also offer a semi automatic gearbox and improved rear-wheel-drive chassis.

There are two gearbox options - a standard six-speed manual, or a brand-new seven-speed paddle shift auto. The manual also gets a trick 'synchro rev control' feature that blips the throttle during changes to make the whole process smoother.It can be turned off, though.

The 370Z will have a shorter wheelbase than that of the current car and will also use more lightweight materials which boost the car overall performance.

The Nissan 370Z have a double wishbone setup up front with a multi-link setup out back. Brembo brakes and 18 and 19 inch wheels will also be part of the 370Z package.

The wheel base of Nissan 370Z is 2550mm which is 100mm shorter than the 350's, while the car's overall length is down 70mm to 4250mm. The width and track are up, making the car squatter and more composed in both style and dynamics.

Car overall weight is also reduced to around 100 kg to 1466 kg which has resulted in more power for the vehicle.

The price of entry model will be available from around £28,500.

Motor Trend Magazine has judged the Nissan GT-R as its 2009 car of the year. Earlier also Nissan GT-R was named as car of the year by the AUTOMOBILE Magazine which is America's leading automotive lifestyle publication.

Japanese auto major Toyota has postponed all plans to the launch Prius Hybrid car in Indian market.

Toyota Prius is the world’s first mass-produced hybrid vehicle.

Company has cited economic condition worldwide, infrastructure issues, a steep duty structutre as some issues for delaying the car launch.

However the recent major price cut but Toyota arch rival Honda on it Civic Hybrid is also cited as the reason for delaying of Prius in the Indian market.

Recently Honda has slashed price of Civic Hybrid by Rs. 8 Lakh and thus making it very affordable in India having a price tag of Rs. 13.36 Lakh.However Honda has now closed the special price offer on Civic Hybrid.

Toyota and Honda are the leading manufacturers of hybrid vehicles globally, and Toyota Prius (launched 11 years ago) is the market leader.

The hybrid cars, which use both petrol engine and electric motor, are fuel-efficient and have lower emission levels, making them environment-friendly.

Toyota’s Indian arm, which does not have the required manufacturing infrastructure to roll out hybrid cars, is unsure of the initial volumes and feels that the Indian market is not yet ready for such cars.

Toyota was looking to launch Prius Hybrid car in 2009 at Rs 20-22 lakh.

Toyota Kirloskar, a joint venture between the Japanese company and Kirloskar Motors, was planning to import Prius as a CBU (completely-built-up units), as low volumes would make local manufacturing of the model unviable.

Worldwide cumulative sales of Prius in May 2008 crossed a million units. While Toyota chose to use a totally new brand name for its hybrid car, Honda elected to offer hybrid versions of its popular models such as Accord and Civic. Environmental concerns (and rising gasoline prices in the US) have spurred the sales of these greener cars.

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), India's largest carmaker is planning to introduce its latest offering i.e. Maruti's A-Star in Indian markets by November and December this year. The company plans to offer the car at an introductory price of Rs. 3.47 lakh. The prices of higher variants will go up to Rs. 4.12 lakh.

By launching A-Star, Maruti is hoping to take on Hyundai i10 which is a huge hit in Indian markets.

The car has an all new 3 cylinder, 1 litre K series engine that gives a power of 67 hp. That is more than Zen and Wagon R.

The company will manufacture A-Star at its Manesar plant and is aiming to sell about 50,000 units in Indian market and 1 lakh units abroad.

Company claims that according to the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), the A-Star delivers a mileage of 19.59 km per litre.

A-Star will be made in 200 variants and exported to 150 countries across Europe, Middle East, Latin America, Asia, Australia, and Africa. According to (MSI) Europe would be the main market for A-Star.

A-Star will be exported under the name of Suzuki Alto and Suzuki Celerio.

Nissan also plans to market the same car under the name Nissan Pixo in Middle East and African markets.
